Time for another
Wabash Valley Artists Society program already, this Tuesday (March 17).  The very talented James Werner will be giving his presentation this month.

James will be showing us "Continuous Tone Charcoal drawing."
He will bring antique drawings and a finished piece of his own and talk about the history of the technique.
This method is perfect for people interested in watercolor, oils. or acrylic painting.
It focuses on a "big tone" on block in approach and is a fast way to get a fully rendered value drawing where charcoal is used like paint with a loose quick application to render the light affect and edges.

He will show examples of John Singer Sargent drawings from a book using this technique as well as an original antique drawing from his collection by a student of Carlos Duran who was Sargent's teacher.  Also, he will create a portrait of a model while he talks.  If you would like to see examples of his work here is a link to his Facebook page    James Werner's Facebook page
I am really looking forward to seeing James' approach to something completely new and different (for me anyway), and I hope all of you will be there too.

On a side note, we are still in need of a secretary.  It would be lovely if someone would volunteer to take on this task.

See you Tuesday at TAF at 7:00pm.  And as always please feel free to call me with any questions at 765-237-1252.
